The Xbox Game Pass for PC is a gaming subscription service that allows anyone to get their hands on a variety of games for their PC, but only the games that Microsoft decides to include, which is well over 100 games. This service is an alternative way to purchase games, the player no longer has to buy games separately. Microsoft has really outdone themselves with this service, but it isn’t without its downsides when it comes to the PC version.
Here is why the PC version can be good and bad.
The Good
The initial cost for subscribing to the service is relatively low, it depends on the user and whether they are new or past subscribers. If the user is new, then they will be able to get the first month for $1, which will then increase to $10, and I’m solely speaking about the PC plan.
EA Play is another addition that will be added eventually this year to the PC game pass. This new addition will allow subscribers to play the games that EA has to offer at no extra cost.
The game library is huge and provides the player with a variety of games that they will find to be enjoyable. Plenty of genres to choose from like action & adventure, strategy, role playing, etc. As of now they are updating the pass with more games every so often.
Accessing the app on PC is simple enough and easy to maneuver around it. The new app design they have created is the best way to find all the games that the player downloaded. Once downloaded, the app should boot up as soon as the PC gets into the windows menu.
The Bad
Again, there are plenty of games to play on the PC game pass, but it still lacks a huge number of amazing titles. For example, the game pass does not include games like the Witcher franchise, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Modern Warfare, Xcom franchise, Dark Souls, Mortal Kombat 11, and many other titles. I’m not too sure why that is, but several reasons could be that each company hasn’t come to a compromise. Microsoft just hasn’t made any effort to establish these games within the PC game pass. Whatever the issue may be, hopefully they are able to add more exciting titles.
Some titles that are included in the Xbox game pass (console version), are not included in the PC version, which is disappointing, especially since some of these games are available on PC, through platforms like Steam.
Games might not last on the PC game pass. Meaning that any game that a player may have enjoyed, can be taken away. Granite, they do give dates on when they will be taken a game off the pass. Also, Microsoft can decide to take a game off the PC pass and still have that same game for the console version.
