Every gamer out there should own a gaming headset, why do you ask... it’s simple. Owning a pair of decent gaming headgear will allow the player to experience a game in a manner that just can’t be achieved via monitor or tv speakers.

In my experience of using several gaming headsets, I have always felt that a game has a greater intensity and satisfaction attached to it when you can’t hear anything but the game being played.

This kind of aspect makes it feel like the game is the reality, it allows for full immersion. These are important factors that make gaming with a headset so vital since it will allow the player to experience the Credit: Unsplash.com

developer’s creativity.

Immersion

For example, this is especially prevalent within the genre of horror. In horror games, the developer wants to create an atmosphere that will scare the living hell out of people, by making them feel like they are never truly safe.

This can’t be done if the player is not at all focused or in a way isolated from the outside world. This is what is so beneficial about wearing a headset, the player will be able to hear the variety of eerie sounds and music that the developer has decided to implement throughout the gameplay. Also, he/she is less likely to be distracted from other things going on around them, which can break the immersion, therefore causing the overall experience to feel underwhelming.

The sound that a decent headset is producing will also further create the believability of something being in close proximity to the player and make for an incredibly immersive experience.

Intensity

The immersion that one gets while wearing a headset will lead to feeling like they are within the game during their playthrough, which leads to very intense moments. Again, in a horror game, the player will start to experience uneasiness that will eventually build up and get to a point where he/she will feel like they are being rushed; have no time to think, just do. This is done by the music, which starts to slowly get increasingly louder as the monster closes in on the player’s location, creating some tension-filled moments throughout the game. Another being the hearing of bushes suddenly rustling or hearing the eerie creaking of floorboards, all create moments that make the average gamer feel like they need to always be on their toes.

In games that don’t have any horror elements, the player will still feel the same intensity, but differently. They could be playing an action-packed game, and in many cases, the music will start to play during a battle, which again makes it feel like the situation is that much more intense. Therefore, having a headset will only enhance the experience, making the intensity feel realistic within a game.

Satisfaction

The satisfaction of being able to hear the interactions that the protagonist has with his/her environment is another reason why investing in a headset is so beneficial. Each time the character interacts with an object of some sort, the player will want to be able to hear the sound it makes when being picked up or dropped, again it all goes back to believing that one is in the game, which means they are immersed.

Still haven't been using a headset? I highly recommend you go and buy one immediately.
